Quill parts ways with MC Motorsports, forms new team
May 31st, 2023 | 9:18 AM CT

In January of 2023, Marty Cmejla began signing other drivers outside of the Cmejla last name to race for the team. With this came many hires and successors. Connor Murphy, Justin Connor, Jacob Quill, and Levi Lipe were all hired during this era. Combined, these unlastnamed Cmejla drivers would make 64 starts for the team, earning 2 Top 5s, 13 Top 10s, and 50 Top 20s; also accumulating 15 DNFs out of the 25 team total. Jacob Quill had the most significant results, accounting for the closest MC Motorsports has ever been to winning - only being 0.038 behind during a Round 5 Talladega race.

As Marty Cmejla got Trading Paints Pro, Jacob Quill and Justin Connor followed through. Jacob Quill messaged Marty Cmejla that the team should look for a new number font because we have Trading Paints Pro now. Cmejla agreed, but he came up with a proposal. He told Quill that you can leave MC Motorsports and make your own team, Quill Autosport, where on QAS, you can run any manufacture, number, number font, sponsor, scheme, etc. - basically avoiding the MC Motorsports limitations.

Quill agreed. Cmejla said Justin Connor and Levi Lipe can go with you. Quill felt “sad” he was “taking away” MC Motorsports drivers but Cmejla was 100% on board. Quill Autosport will also get PVI Industries to their team, meaning PVI Industries won’t be a MC Motorsports-specific sponsor. MC Motorsports and Quill Autosport have a heavy alliance. Basically, they are still teammates but on a different team. They will treat each other practically the same.

What comes with this deal as well is that QAS drivers’ results won’t be accounted for inside of MC Motorsports’ team statistics spreadsheet anymore.

Jacob Quill’s final stats with MC Motorsports were this:
26 Starts
0 Wins
2 Top 5s
8 Top 10s
17 Top 20s
2 DNQs
7 DNFs
This leaves out 1 NR Cup Series start where Quill got 23rd.

Justin Connor’s final stats with MC Motorsports were this:
23 Starts
0 Wins
0 Top 5s
2 Top 10s
19 Top 20s
2 DNQs
3 DNFs

Levi Lipe’s final stats with MC Motorsports were this:
4 Starts
0 Wins
0 Top 5s
1 Top 10
2 Top 20s
1 DNQ
1 DNF

“Obviously, it is unfortunate to see them go, but we think it’s an opportunity to boost morale. Now these guys can run anything they want, which will improve their confidence and relationship on the race track,” said team owner Marty Cmejla.

MC Motorsports will be back to its ways for the team’s first 89 races - just Marty Cmejla and Bradley Cmejla as the team's drivers. MC Motorsports team sponsors are now:
