Emma Akin joins MC Motorsports

New and upcoming iRacing star Emma Akin has signed with MC Motorsports through February of 2024, per team owner Marty Cmejla. This is a deal for ASPHALT MEDIA only. With this signing, Emma Akin become the first female driver signed to a team in ASPHALT MEDIA.

Emma Akin just recently got iRacing, and had only done 1 ASPHALT MEDIA race prior to the signing. She drove in the Blackout Event at Darlington Raceway with the NASCAR XFINITY cars. She finished 17 laps down. This though was her first race on the service, and for it to be at Darlington (the hardest track), it was impressive that she did this well to begin with.

Emma Akin decided to select the #94 to be her number. She will drive the iconic MC Motorsports ASPHALT MEDIA Black base schemes, and she will get Trading Paints Pro soon to accompany the My Puma font. Akin is completely new to sim-racing, so she will have to work on her craft to improve.

"Honestly, it feels great signing on to my first team. MCM has a great lineup on hand and I hope to add to that with this contract. I am glad to finally have a team during AM races," Emma Akin said on her thoughts with the contract.

Marty Cmejla had just purchased Talladega for Emma in an effort to get her on track for ASPHALT MEDIA races, but there is one problem. Oddly, ASPHALT MEDIA requires that a driver has a D Class Oval license, and 1,200 iRating to race in oval events. Emma, currently sits at a rookie license, and with this hasn't even achieved iRating yet. When asked how she will overcome this, she said, "lemme cook".

"It is really great to have our first driver signing in ASPHALT MEDIA. Me and Emma have had deep conversations about our love for NASCAR Racing and iRacing in general, and I think there is potential for greatness," team owner Cmejla commented.

Cmejla is an advocate for ASPHALT MEDIA CEO Robert Devore to remove the license requirements for races. "NR Night in America doesn't have one, so why does this need one? I think removing it would broaden the outreach to other drivers. There is already so little drivers under 1,200 iRating to begin with. In my opinion, it won't make a difference."

But that's the fear, more drivers with lower iRating messing up races. But, ever since NR Night in America removed their 2,000 iRating limit, the racing has been better, and the field has been more diverse in drivers, leading to ultimate growth and success.

How do you think Emma Akin will do? Only time will tell! After February 2024, a contract extension is expected no matter how Emma performs.
