Cmejla hopes to continue strong runs after career night

April 25th, 2023 | 8:53 AM CT

MC Motorsports will run NR Night in America tonight at 8 ET/7 CT on the Idk Player YouTube Channel. It will be the 42nd stream we will participate in. Tonight, the cars will be the 2018-2021 Generation-6 NASCAR Cup Series cars, specifically; NASCAR Cup Series Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 as named on iRacing. In the total of 5 races tonight, you will see Marty Cmejla, Levi Lipe, Jacob Quill, and Justin Connor all pursue more statistics and great results tonight in the 5 races here on April 25th through April 26th.

The first race tonight will be Daytona International Speedway. In the most recent stream, they did Gen 6 at Daytona as well. Marty Cmejla drove the #40 Inside the Industry Podcast Chevrolet in this race, finishing 8th after leading laps earlier on. Having recent experience like this will be beneficial for a good result. It will be Cmejla’s 130th NR Night start. Marty Cmejla will return to the #39 Inside the Industry Podcast Chevrolet for tonight. Levi Lipe will also return for this 3rd NR Night start, driving the #40 Connor Murphy Designs Chevrolet. It will be his first NR Night race at Daytona and first NR Night race. He had planned to make the recent Gen 6 Daytona race in the recent stream, but missed the session. Justin Connor will make his 11th NR Night start in the #65 MC Motorsports Chevrolet. It will be Justin’s 2nd race at Daytona and his first NR Night race with the Gen 6 car. The Gen 6 cars are sensitive to small contacts for damage, so keeping the car clean will be vital for a good team result.

Marty Cmejla is the only driver on the team who has done Gen 6’s at Daytona before, in fact, his first career Top 5 was here back in August of 2022. On October 6th, he drove the New Line Pristine Chevrolet to a 10th place finish here with this car-track-combo as well. Then the recent stream on April 21st, he got an 8th place finish. With this car-track-combo he averaged a finish of 7.6; in 3 starts. He has never finished outside of the Top 10 with this combo! At Modern Daytona NR Night All-Time, he has 15 starts with a best finish of 4th with the 2013 Gen 6 car back in January of 2023. In 15 starts, he has an average finish of 10.4, which is very respectable for the craziness of Daytona.

The second race will be at Atlanta, the 2008 version of the race track. This has only been done twice in MC Motorsports’s time. Marty Cmejla will drive the #39 Inside the Industry Podcast Chevrolet here for his 131st start. Atlanta - 2008; in his first starts, was a really bad track for him. But now he is on a streak of respectable finishes here, with 4 Top-10s here in a row. It will be his 8th start at this Atlanta configuration. It will be about tire saving which he has gotten better at. Levi Lipe will return to the #40 Connor Murphy Designs Chevrolet for his 4th NR Night start. It will be his 2nd Gen 6 race and his 1st ever Atlanta - 2008 race. Justin Connor will return to the #65 MC Motorsports Chevy for this race as well. It will be Justin’s first Atlanta - 2008 race, and it will be his 12th career start. Atlanta - 2008 is a track that can go really good or really bad.

Marty Cmejla has only done two races in his career with this car-track-combo. One was for his 9th start, where he finished 15th after qualifying 35th. It was his first start at the 2008 version, driving the #39 Patrick Connell Motorsports Chevrolet. His second race here he was much faster. After damage on Lap 3 after Andrew Coody wrecked the back part of the pack, his car had a large decrease in speed, but was still able to nurse a Top 10. This was on December 5th, 2023 for Round 5. He didn’t post a qualifying time as the session advanced, but he finished 8th. At Atlanta Motor Speedway - Oval - 2008 for his career, he has 7 starts, and in those 7, a best finish of 3rd, a worst of 20th, and an average finish of 10.9.

The third race will be at Chicagoland. MC Motorsports has only had 3 races here with two different drivers: Marty Cmejla and Jacob Quill. For tonight, Cmejla will drive the #39 Inside the Industry Podcast Chevrolet. Nobody else will be racing Chicagoland. It will be the first time Cmejla has driven the car-track-combo. Cmejla has 2 career starts at Chicagoland: with the Net Gen and the ARCA Menards Chevrolet Impala. He has a best finish of 11th and a worst of 16th; definitely not one of his greatest tracks. This is an average of 13.5. Cmejla said that on fresh tires you can go wide open so it will be interesting to see how that goes, and for how long. Chicaogland isn’t really his best track, so he is just hopeful to get a Top 20.

The fourth race will be at Richmond Raceway. MC Motorsports has done only 1 race here, back in March of 2023 with Jacob Quill. Quill got 14th. Marty Cmejla will drive the #39 Inside the Industry Podcast Chevrolet. It will be his first EVER race at Richmond on iRacing, as he purchased the track yesterday. Levi Lipe will drive the #40 Connor Murphy Designs Chevrolet as well, making his 5th start. It will be Cmejla’s 133rd start. Cmejla did a lot of laps in Test Drive to test tire wear. He said it’s a challenging track. His best lap time with night conditions was 21.611.

For Round 5, it is planned to be Dirt Street Stock action! The most recent stream had Dirt Street Stocks for Round 5 at USA International Speedway. Tonight it is believed the race will be at Lanier National Speedway or at Limaland Motorsports Park. Marty Cmejla will drive the #39 Inside the Industry Podcast car for this one, making his 134th career start, and his 2nd Dirt Street Stock race. Levi Lipe will drive the #40 storemcm.com car, making his 6th start. Jacob Quill will race the #59 Q90 FM Christian Radio car as well. Marty Cmejla and Jacob Quill both raced the Dirt Street Stock race last time at USA. Cmejla got 8th, and Jacob Quill got a 6th place finish. Both ran in the Top 15 pretty much all-race long. Cmejla thinks this race can go either really good or really bad, but it should be fun.

Ultimately, tonight Marty Cmejla hopes to see himself continue the momentum. He has a career-high 5 Top-10 finishes in a row. He also has 56 Top-20 finishes in a row, the highest in NR Night in America at the moment. He also hopes to see Justin Connor continue the consistency and hopes he can score a Top 10. He wants to see Levi Lipe improve from his two 19th and 27th place finishes in his first two races. Who knows? Maybe even after this stream we can say, “MC Motorsports finally goes to victory lane in NR Night in America”. After this night, MC Motorsports will have done a total of 178 NR Night in America races.
